native american ritual dancing wildness.

errr... not really.

But as a result of my new job I have found myself with feathered hair for the last few weeks. And by feathered I don't mean crazy eighties wildness... I literally mean I have feathers affixed to my hair.

See?

Don't judge me.

Also, you want to know what Raleigh and I do when we hang out?

mustache cat.

Yeah, he probably thinks I need a better hobby. Oh well....

brothers. part deux.

Remember how I told you about my brothers a couple months ago?
(if not feel free to check it out)

One benefit I have discovered about moving back home is that I have had the opportunity to spend more time with said brothers, which has been quite nice. Some highlights of sibling bonding?
I was able to take Matthew to go get that driving permit I was telling you about. After the acquisition of his driving privileges we went out for a "celebration slushie"... no bigs deals.
slushie, driving permit, and itouch...
oh the life of a fourteen year old.

Bijan and I have taken a few adventures... all over the state of Iowa, in fact (what we will do for our Apple products... psshht).
We all three got together and took some pictures together before Matthew flew off to Florida for the summer. Check out how good looking we are....

smiles.
typical.
pals.

We like to have fun. And pick on Matthew.

silly.

In summation, it's been a sweet time to get to spend with my brothers.

white screen of death.

Apparently that is the slang term of the illness that plagued my computer last weekend.

Technically my hard drive went into some catastrophic physical failure.

In "layla terms" (yeah, that's a real thing) it was a plague named "dang, layla really should have backed up her files before her computer forgot they ever existed" or maybe "layla's hard drive tried to run away, but it forgot that it was tightly enclosed in a plastic case"... I could go on... really. I've been thinking about it all week.

Alas, the Apple Genius who shall remain nameless (mostly because I forgot his name) brought my computer back to life; charging a nominal fee, and unable to recover my files. But it is back to life, never the less. So that's good, right?

kite flying.

Have I ever told you that I love flying kites?
Because I do.

Maybe it's because kite flying is invariably associated with beautiful weather in my mind. And I love beautiful weather.

Here are some of my favorite people flying kites....

So there you have it. I'm a sucker for going on a kite adventure. Also, Batman inspired kites.

Today is a prime kite flying day.

a lapse in blogging.

Well hello there friends.

Sorry there has been an absence of my blogging presence, it's been a long and rough month.
Quick run through?

Well for starters I've moved back home for the time being. It was a difficult decision to make, but I suppose I need to be all grown up and stuff. It'll be a good change to spend more time with my family, and I'll be saving moneys. So yeah, grown up. I've been working a lot. So yeah, grown up again. Look at me being all responsible. hah. So my friends, I ask that you would be praying for me? Transitions are not always fun.

The last Salt Company of the school year was last Wednesday. How wild is that?! I cannot believe that year one is now over, and it was a rewarding year. It was challenging at times, but I've made some wonderful friends. Said friends make this move home oh so difficult. But! Fear not, I now have a car that I am able to use... so both my Iowa City and Ames friends will be seeing more of my face than anticipated.

What's next? Summer summer summer! It feels like it's finally coming! I am ready for sun, I'm over rain.

That is my last month in a very small nutshell. If you want a more in-depth review, let's skype, write letters, or something... and be friends.

april.

I suppose I've always been slightly partial to the month of April, not only because it contains my birthday but because it always starts to warm up and really feel like spring (and I hate the cold, so any heat is welcome heat... even if it is rainy).

Anyway.

There are some things that I'm very excited about this years version of April... so here it goes... in no particular order....
-VEISHEA/birthday shenanigans. Where I will get to see Lauren, play bingo, see some sweet shows, and have a birthday party slumber party! What more could one want out of a weekend?! Last year's VEISHEA was memorable... but this year's is going to be pretty fantastic.
- Anthem is also happening soon, and it's going to be neat. You should go. I wasn't able to go to Anthem last semester (darned appendix), so I'm excited to be able to go this time around.
- Mission Creek drifted into the month of April, so it kind of counts? Right? Sure. The Caroline Smith and the Goodnight Sleeps show ended up making for a wonderful evening. And Joel McHale would have been pretty entertaining. Except for tickets sold out. Lame.
- Figuring out where exactly God wants me for the next few months of my life. Which is hard, but good. I know that it's a little vague, but could you be praying for me in that?

So yes. There it is.
