the loss of a car.

I really enjoy living in Iowa City, I really do. But there are a couple areas in which I feel like Iowa City could take some advice from Ames, and one of those areas is the bus system (which I will be forced into using due to the death of the Alero... but I have yet to try....).

Reasons why Cyride is far superior to the Iowa City "bus system":
1. The Iowa City area feels the need to have 3 separate bus lines, whereas Ames neatly creates one efficient one.
2. Cyride is free. Who really wants to spend $80 a semester to ride the bus?
3. I watched a Cambus driver pull a 7-point u-turn in the middle of the Iowa St. bridge.
4. I also watched a Coralville transit bus have some issues in front of the English building. It was stopped, straddling both lanes. As a result I had to put the 'lero in off road mode and drive partially up on the curb, following suit of the minivan in front of me.
5. I also watched another Cambus driver sit at a green light, until it turned red... then green... then it went.

Need I say more about those crazies?

I have two of them.

We've spent entire summers together, attacking each other while riding large plastic whales and long car rides up the coasts and through deserts. Bijan and I have spent the school years filled with chores, almost being late to school, and too much hair gel. Now he's a manager at Staple's, all grown up. Matthew is quite a bit younger, we watched a lot of Veggietales and he just got away with being cute... and now he's almost old enough to get behind the wheel (not by himself, of course... he's not that old yet!) and about to embark on high school. Crazy. And scary. hah.

We've grown up together, so naturally we've gone through not liking each other so much... but in the end we do love each other, and I'm so blessed to have them around.

We're also silly.

ps. This is one of the funnier conversations between my brothers.
context: living room, roughly 3/4 years ago
      action: Matthew punched Bijan
Bijan: "If you do that one more time I'm going to punch you right in the ovaries."
Matthew: "You don't even know where my ovaries are!"

valentines day.

I've never minded valentines day. I always felt like it was a good excuse to eat chocolate (not that I need or use an excuse to do so... ). This year some friends and I celebrated together, and it was quite the success. We dressed classy, had a classy dinner, went to open mic at The Mill, had classy strawberry champagne, and watched Bravo. haha. All in all a pretty fantastically classy evening. It was also super fun. If you don't believe me, check this out....
Yeah. We're classy AND fun. And awkward. But we are awesome.

I loves my friends.

all the trees of the field will clap their hands.

"You will go out in joy and be led forth in peace; the mountains and hills will burst into song before you, and all the trees of the field will clap their hands."
-Isaiah 55:12

"If I am alive this time next year,
will I have arrived in time to share?
And mine is about as good this far.
And I'm still applied to what you are.
And I am joining all my thoughts to You.
And I'm preparing every part for You.

And I heard from the trees a great parade.
And I heard from the hills a band was made.
And will I be invited to the sound?
And will I be a part of what you've made?
And I am throwing all my thoughts away.
And I'm destroying every bet I've made.
And I am joining all my thoughts to You.
And I'm preparing every part for You."

love. love. love. love.

here we go...

Hey there... hey.
Introductions can be painfully awkward. So let's just skip all that nonsense, okay? Okay.

I'm just going to leave you with this picture. It's from pretty much the greatest day of my life.

I wish every day was flood day.
